About the firm

Senior counsel from someone who has held the executive seat.

Sirianno & Associates is the advisory practice of Edward J. Sirianno, Principal Consultant, based in East Aurora, New York and working with mission-driven organizations nationwide.

Biography

Edward J. Sirianno

Edward Sirianno is a mission-driven executive and advisor whose work spans nonprofit leadership, governance, fundraising, strategic planning, conservation, institutional growth, communications, and public engagement. He has led an organization from inside the executive seat and advised institutions from outside it — and the practice is built on the combination.

From 2020 through 2026 he served as Executive Director and Chief Administrative Officer of the Buffalo Audubon Society and Trillium Nature Center. The role carried the full range of responsibility familiar to leaders of nature-centered organizations: a public nature center and its visitors, more than 1,100 acres of preserves and the stewardship they require, education programming, membership, philanthropy, staffing, facilities, board partnership, and the community relationships that make conservation work possible.

During that tenure he raised or helped secure more than $2.5 million in public and private support, advanced accessible nature access and trail improvements, developed habitat and conservation partnerships connected to the Niagara River corridor, strengthened board practice, and led rebranding and communications work that grew membership and donor participation.

Earlier, from 2005 to 2019, he was Founder, President, CEO, and Chief Creative Officer of Creative Communication Associates. Over fifteen years the firm advised more than 100 colleges, universities, and mission-driven institutions on positioning, brand, and the communications that connect institutions to the people whose support they need. That work built an unusual fluency in how audiences form impressions of institutions — and how quickly a well-run organization can lose that ground through inconsistency.

He holds an MA in Integrated Marketing Communications from St. Bonaventure University and a BA in English and Education from St. Mary's College of Maryland, where he serves as a member of the Foundation Board. He lives and works in East Aurora, New York.

Sirianno & Associates exists because many nature-centered organizations cannot justify a full-time strategist, a governance specialist, a campaign counsel, and a search consultant — yet they face exactly those questions. The firm provides that senior capacity when it is needed, at a scale that fits the organization.

How the work is done

Four commitments that shape every engagement

Principal-led attention

Senior judgment is applied directly to your organization rather than delegated. The relationship stays with one advisor from first conversation through implementation.

Candor

Boards and executives are best served by someone willing to name what is difficult — the concentrated revenue, the unclear role, the deferred decision — with evidence and without drama.

Collaboration

Recommendations developed alongside staff and trustees are the ones that get implemented. The work is done with the organization, never to it.

Implementation

Strategy that stops at the report is unfinished. Engagements conclude with sequenced plans, named owners, and measures — with continued counsel available.

Let's talk

A conversation is the best way to judge fit.

Bring the question that prompted your visit. If another advisor is a better match, that will be said plainly.
